CQ WW DX RTTY Contest Log 1.0 is Now Available & Two Reminders!

Home News

Hi All,

CQ WW DX RTTY Contest Log 1.0 is Now Available!

I've just completed a separate program to support the annual CQ WW DX RTTY Contest. I've supported the CW and SSB versions of the contest for a long time, but a separate program is required for RTTY because of the significant rule differences for the RTTY version of the contest. CQ WW DX RTTY Contest Log 1.0 includes all the features you've come to expect in N3FJP Software including dupe checking, scoring, DX spotting, rig interface, super check partial, band map, etc. Best of all, you'll likely find it very easy and intuitive to use! Ed, W4ELP has already checked the new program and verified that it properly interfaces with DM 780 via his bridge.

As always, additional programs I add to the N3FJP Software Package are free to N3FJP Software Package users. You can use the same password for CQ WW DX RTTY Contest Log that we sent you for the CW / SSB version of the software.

You'll find CQ WW DX RTTY Contest Log 1.0 here.

Enjoy!

Two Reminders....

School Club Roundup starts this coming Monday (10/19) and runs through Friday!

Some folks think that schools only contact other schools during School Club Roundup, but that's not the case at all. Students earn points for every contact they make with everyone, including individual stations, so they will love to have your call in their log! We want our young folks to have a great experience next week, so please be sure to get on the air and work as many schools and radio clubs as you can. Clubs are worth an extra multiplier, so make sure your radio club is operating SCR week too!

The rules for SCR have been changed to allow working stations once per band and mode, so please be sure to use version 1.2 of my free School Club Roundup software and try to work the school stations on all the bands and modes! Remember, while the emphasis of School Club Roundup is schools and radio clubs, individuals can participate, also work other individuals for points, submit logs and earn wallpaper too!

Is there an Amateur Radio club at your local elementary, middle, high school or college? If the answer is no and you enjoy working with young folks, please think seriously about starting one!

School Club Roundup is a wonderful, week long opportunity for students to learn about Amateur Radio, get on the air and work other schools, clubs and individuals. It provides lots of teachable moments and thanks to your involvement, just may help shape a destiny! You may want to start a club for students solo, or you may partner with a few local seasoned hams together to introduce young folks to the joys and fascinating hobby of Amateur Radio.

I had the great pleasure of working a good number of schools during last Feburary's SCR and I'm really looking forward to next week! Even most of the elementary kids did great! One of my favorite moments was when I asked a very young lady what kind of radio she was using. With great enthusiasm, she responded: "It is a black one!"

Please see Steve, W3JX's article on page 73 of the October 2015 edition of QST for more information about involving your local school in SCR!

And contact Lew, N2RQ scr@limarc.org for any questions and more details!

School Club Round runs every October and February. All the details are here.

And my free software for SCR is here (make sure you are running version 1.2 as there have been rule changes since February):

CQ WW SSB is Next Weekend!

CQ WW SSB is not this coming weekend, but next! This is one of the largest contests of the year. Whether you think of yourself as a contester or not, if you enjoy chasing DX and adding entities to your totals on new bands, you'll definitely want to participate! If you still need to get antennas ready, do it this weekend! CQ WW is a smorgasbord of DX fun and excitement and you definitely don't want to miss it!

If your club or local group hasn't tried club competition, give it a try in CQ WW SSB. Since every point is added to your club's score, there is no pressure or concern about bringing down the average. Every points help, even if only a few QSOs are made. Playing casually in contests as a club locally has really brought some new life, enthusiasm, excitement and fun to our group! It could be a great approach to reinvigorating your club too!

Whether you participate as part of a club or individually and whether you care about your score at all or not, be sure to get on the air and enjoy this event! See how many QSOs you can make, add to your DX counts on various bands or just enjoy the amazing ability to talk anywhere in the world with a wire!

You'll find CQ WW DX Contest Software here.

Donations are Gratefully Accepted!

And in response to the often asked question for which Kimberly and I are very grateful...

"I know your upgrades are free, but I also realize how much time and effort coding these enhancements and new programs take and that your pricing policy doesn't fully reflect that. Can I send you something to show my appreciation for your continued efforts?"

Yes, thanks so much, your continued support in any amount is very welcome and deeply appreciated! You can use this page:
