N3FJP Software Help Information
(System Example Shown - MS Windows Win 7)
File Menu Options
This Help page lists the File Menu Options for the N3FJP Contest Logs and Amateur Contact Log.
File > New
Selecting File > New gives two options as seen in the File Menu New graphic below.
Option 1 is to start a NEW contest with the current database file location and specifies the location. If you select this option, a warning appears as shown in the Are You Sure? graphic below. You must type YES in the text box to start a new file, and all previous data in this location will be erased. If you typed YES, you will have a fresh start for the current contest.
Option 2 is to start a NEW contest with a NEW file or location. If a new file name or location is not specified, any previous data will be erased.
Amateur Contact Log supports multiple log files. Selecting File > New in AC Log gives similar options to those above in the contest log file menu. Please use this option to create multiple log files within the program. You may wish to keep separate logs for different call signs, contest data or a separate log for a family member who wishes to use the log at your location.
File > Open
Selecting File > Open allows you to navigate to and open a file for use in the program.
File > Save As
Selecting File > Save As allows you to rename a file and assign a location using the Windows Save As function.
This feature performs the same function as most Windows programs. When selecting File > Save As, you can create a second, identical log but with a different name. You can also move this newly created file to another location by choosing a new path.
File > Print Log
File > Print Log (AC Log's File Menu) provides access to simple printing of your log from within AC Log. After selecting this option the Print Log form below appears. It will provide information to simply print your log "as is" from AC Log. Click Done when you are finished.
File > Print Address
File > Print Address (AC Log's File Menu) provides simple printing of an address label from within AC Log. After selecting this option the Print Address Labels form below appears. It provides information to print an address label(s) from selected records within AC Log. Click Done when you are finished. If you need more information on this method of printing, please see the Printing tutorial under the Tutorials link above.
File > Import ADIF
Selecting File > Import ADIF allows you to import data from any program that exports in ADIF. It's a great way to transfer your contest contacts to AC Log. You will first see a warning appear as in the Import warning graphic below.
If you are using the Network feature, all other clients using the database you are importing to must be closed before import. Clicking OK will produce a Windows File > Open screen, and you can navigate to and select the file to import.
Selecting File > Import ADIF from Amateur Contact Log allows you to import data into your general log. After selecting this option, a Windows Open File form will appear. Use this form to navigate to the file you wish to import into your log. When importing an ADIF file, the imported records are appended to your existing log. Nothing is overwritten.
File > Export ADIF
Selecting File > Export ADIF from a contest log allows you to export your contest data for external use.
Selecting File > Export ADIF from Amateur Contact Log allows you to export your log data for external use in three ways:
- Whole Log
- Selected Records
- From Rec # - To Rec #
For the Selected Records and From - To options, select the records by clicking and highlighting them or making note of the Rec #'s you wish to export.
You will first see a Windows Save form to save the file. Next, the form in the graphic below appears. This form allows you to configure the ADIF output for the program you will be importing to.
Click the Help button for further explanation on configuring your ADIF file or click Continue to finish your export. After clicking Continue you will see a small form appear giving the name and location of the ADIF file that was created.
